The recently arrived in Australia Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP has been named Sportsbike of the Year at the Motorcycle News (MCN) Awards in the UK.
The range-topping model, which was launched to mark the 25th anniversary of the arrival of Honda’s original Fireblade, stays true to the iconic bike’s original ‘Total Control’ concept, according to the publication.
The bike features a design principle based on power to weight ratio and the importance of acceleration, braking and cornering agility, championed by the Fireblade’s original designer, Tadao Baba. – MCN
Michael Neeves, MCN’s chief road tester, certainly says the Fireblade is a cut above the competition.
“Ride the Fireblade SP back-to-back against its rivals and it makes them feel heavy, unrefined and slightly clumsy by comparison.
“That’s why it’s unashamedly our Sportsbike of the Year.
“Other sportsbikes might have more power and more track-focused electronics but none comes close to being such a rounded performer.”
MCN editor, Andy Calton, presents the award to Mark Furniss, Honda national sales manager. |
The Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP is priced from $28,499, check out more details on the bike, and even order online, at this dedicated website.
